San Antonio Nurse Killed in Crash with Wrong-Way Driver

A GoFundMe was created for the young 25-year-old San Antonio woman killed in a fiery wrong-way crash with a suspected drunken driver early Saturday.

The crash occurred around 2:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 at Walzem Road when a wrong-way driver in a Ford 350 hit a Nissan Rogue, the San Antonio Police Department said. Police found the truck on fire and upside down, officials said.

Daniela Lute died from multiple blunt force injuries she sustained from the crash, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office. Lute was in the Nissan and died, along with another woman, 27. Her identity has not yet been released.

Authorities said they pulled the driver from the burning vehicle and transported him to San Antonio Military Medical Center in an unknown condition. SAPD says the 58-year-old man is facing two counts of intoxication manslaughter. For more details on the tragic event, visit this My San Antonio article.
